چکیده

Introduction The interest on early Spondyloarthtiris (eSpA) is born in the last ten years for the acknowledgment of the “evidence based” utility of the rapid diagnostic and therapeutic approach in this disease. The aim of this review was to discuss early spondyloarthritis in detail. Discussion The chronological definition of eSpA is not uniform in literature. ASAS criteria, together with the use of MRI and US in early diagnosis have increased the diagnostic power and the capacity to classify eSpA. Few issues investigated and codified the use of DMARDs and antiTNFalpha in early phases. Conclusion Future studies must be conducted in the future to better clarify MRI and US findings and the role of other imaging techniques in early phase. Furthermore, an intensified research on efficacy of treatments in early phase with prospective studies are needed in the future.

Progress in spondylarthritis. Spondyloarthritis: lessons from imaging

The advent of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and advanced sonographic techniques has led to a resurgence of interest in the role of imaging in the evaluation and management of spondyloarthritis. Radiography remains the cornerstone of diagnosis although MRI is more sensitive in early stages of the disease. Inflammatory changes in the sacroiliac joints and spine can now be reliably quantified a...

The window of opportunity: a relevant concept for axial spondyloarthritis

The window of opportunity is a concept critical to rheumatoid arthritis treatment. Early treatment changes the outcome of rheumatoid arthritis treatment, in that response rates are higher with earlier disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug treatment and damage is substantially reduced. Axial spondyloarthritis is an inflammatory axial disease encompassing both nonradiographic axial spondyloarthri...

[Follow up and prognostic value using magnetic resonance imaging in patients with spondyloarthritis treated with biologic agents].

Early diagnosis and assessment of the response to treatment in patients suffering from spondyloarthritis have always been challenging due to the lack of imaging techniques able to demonstrate spinal and sacroiliac inflammation. The last 2 years have seen important advances in the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the study of spondyloarthritis. The possibility of quantification of inf...

Background: To evaluate the role of 3D, 4D and color Doppler ultrasound (US) in the assessment of early human development. Materials and Methods: 380 women with uncomplicated early pregnancy between 5 and 14 weeks were evaluated by 3D, 4D and color Doppler US. Results: Regression analysis revealed exponential rise of the gestational sac volume with gestational age throughout the first trimester...

Cardiovascular and selected comorbidities in early arthritis and early spondyloarthritis, a comparative study: results from the ESPOIR and DESIR cohorts

OBJECTIVES To investigate the prevalence of comorbidities in early rheumatoid arthritis (ERA) and early axial spondyloarthritis (ESpA) versus the general population. METHODS Baseline data of 689 patients with ERA from the Etude et Suivi des Polyarthrites Indifférenciées Récentes (ESPOIR) cohort (age 48.2±12.1 years, symptoms duration 14.2±14.5 weeks) and 645 patients with ESpA from Devenir de...
